Welcome to the exciting world of hobby class radio controlled fun, follow these basic tips to get started and you will be driving like a pro in no time. Each Traxxas model has a unique handling characteristics but the control is generally the same.
Training mode allows new drivers to build confidence by setting the vehicle to 50% power. See the related video to see how to enable training mode on your model.
Start with a fully charged battery and take your model outside to an open area.
The trigger controls the throttle, braking and the reverse. The wheel control steering pull the trigger gradually to engage the throttle.
The throttle increases exponentially, so the model will accelerate quickly as you the trigger.
To stop, push the trigger forward. Whenever possible apply the brakes gradually, abrupt starting and stopping can be hard on the components.
With the model at a complete stop, push the trigger forward again to engage reserves.
Now, use the wheel to steer the model as you apply throttle. On some models, the setting for both throttle and steering can be adjusted using the transmitter, see your manual for more information.
Use the steering trim knob to make minor corrections if the vehicles is pulling slightly left or right.
When starting out the easiest way to stay oriented is to stand behind the model. As you drive the model back towards you the steering will seem to be inverted. The best way to orient yourself to imagine yourself in the driver’s seat of the vehicle.
As you get more comfortable with the controls experiment with driving at different angles.
With some practice, you will be driving like an expert in no time.
