@hyx911 I have measured the top gearbox, the part where it clamps the diff height insert, the width is 20.2mm The main gearbox where the diff height insert sits, width is measured at 20.7mm So, when gear diff spin/rotate, it rubs against the diff height insert & maybe the ball bearing, which cause rubbing noise |
kyokukei 发表于 2024-08-21 16:19 Hello kyokukei, I just measured both the gear box on my B7 and one spare gear box that I have. I got the same readings as you have. 20.2mm on the upper cover of gear box and 20.7mm on the gear box itself. I think gear box clearance/tolerance is not the root cause of your problem. As a start for checking, I would check the following things: -tooth on the idle/diff gear are all good. -diff height adjustment ring left and right have the same orientation. -not over shimmed the diff -not over tightened the gearbox. Hope this can help you! |
kyokukei 发表于 2024-08-21 16:19 Worst case, you can always sand the diff height insert a little. |
Hi @hyx911 The above 4 points you highlighted, I have checked, all good no issue. The problem is the top gearbox width, which is 20.2mm, which is narrower than the main gearbox width by 0.5mm. Because of this issue, the top part of the diff height insert gets clamped inwards towards the gear diff cap, which resulted in rubbing noise occur. I really hope AE quickly solve this issue |
