How to Replace the Transmission Shift Servo | Traxxas TRX-4

Follow these step to replace the high low transmission servo in your TRX-4.
You will just metric 2mm and 2.5mm hex tools and a pair of slide cutters.
For easy access to the servo mounting screws, use a short L-shaped 2 mm hex tools.
First, remove the body and make sure everything is powered off.
Remove the battery tray by taking off the four screws securing it to the chassis.
Remove the receiver box cover and the wire clamp.
Remove the connector from the channel 3 slot and the receiver and pull the wire out of the receiver box.
Use the side cutters to carefully cut and remove the small zip tie on the wire.
Release the T-lock servo mounts that pull the wire through more easily.
Use the tool to pop off the shift linkage from the servo.
Remove the 2 screws to release the servo.
Remove the 2 screws on the bottom of the chassis to release the ESC.
This will allow you to remove the servo and the wiring.
Carefully hold the servo horn and remove the screw to release it.
Discard the old servo and then take your new servo and wrap the wire through the T-lock servo mount and into the receiver box.
Plug the connector into the channel 3 slot and the receiver.
Center the servo before installing it by powering on the transmitter and the vehicle.
Make sure the rocker switch on the transmitter is flipped up to engage the low gear.

Hold the servo horn firmly as you put the screw in.
Be careful not to over tighten the screw.
With the servo horn attached, you can remove the battery to power off the vehicle.
Reinstall the 2 mounting screws to secure the new servo.
Reattach the ESC with the 2 screws on the bottom of the chassis.
Secure the T-Lock servo mount with the screws removed earlier.
Replace the wire clamp and receiver box cover.
Replace the battery tray and the hardware.
Now your model is ready to go.
