Enough molded parts have now been produced and shipped to our Team drivers so they all now have production prototype molded cars. Only the battery strap, servo hold-down, and posts are not yet finished. There are still some bugs to be worked out, but the Boyz are calculating The New Math full time now. |
Best of all, they’ve all got the prototype JConcepts body on their cars with great Kolors By Kropy paint jobs, and these photos are Chris Long’s car in England. Chris and Dan Greenwood went to the Batley Buggy Club on Friday, June 16th for their first time out with the X – 6. Both cars had been newly built the week before, and Dan missed the first half of the test day doing yeoman work picking up the last parts. When photographer Jimmy Storey arrived at the track, only Chris’ car was ready to run, so we only have photos of that car, but Dan’s blue X – 6 was running later in the day. The Batley track has various surfaces at different parts of the circuit, ranging from some grass to a concrete part covered with astro turf. Most of the track is very high grip, with traction rolling always a problem. Chris Long says, “This layout has a left-right-left chicane where the main problem is grip-rolling. I’ve had to slow down with my B4 to negotiate this section without winding up on the roof. I’m amazed at how fast I can go in the X – 6. Much of the grip-rolling problem is gone.” Dan Greenwood added, “There’s an off-camber section on this track too where grip-roll is quite the problem, and everybody’s got to slow down to negotiate it. But my X – 6 goes through effortlessly, and we’ve not really started working on set-up. It’s amazing!” Both Chris and Dan will be doing The New Math at next weekend’s National event at Batley, and we’ll have the full story here after the race. |
Thanks to Chazz at XFactory I was able to get these exclusive first-look photos of the new X6 mid motor two wheel drive buggy. The car shown here is still a PROTOTYPE but has most of the moulded parts of the final car. The battery strap is obviously not the finished item and other small changes are in the works as I type. The body shell is the first prototype by Jconcepts and is not the final shell. There are currently 2 of the cars in the UK, being tested by Chris Long and Dan Greenwood, both Xfactory / Lesro team drivers. The guys quickly assembled the cars, some of the parts only arriving shortly before these photos. The cars were tested at the Batley track the last day of allowed unofficial practice, 1 week before the National there. Please remember, this car is a prototype. |
