Billy Easton Back To Yokomo

世界级车手Easton离开team losi 去Yokomo了

With the 2006 IFMAR ISTC World championship getting ever closer things are starting to happen on the electric touring scene. The Worlds warm-up is just under one month away, and most manufacturers are currently very busy, we see lots of new parts being tested and many rumours going around of new and updated cars coming.



The latest major change on the driver front is that IFMAR Off-Road World Champion Billy Easton is leaving Team Losi to go back to Yokomo. Billy ran for Yokomo at the last Worlds in Florida in 2004 making the A-main. For 2005 he then moved over to Losi as one of their factory drivers. It is understood that his contract with Losi runs til the end of 2006 but he has opted to get out of that contract and sign again with Yokomo.



According to reports the reason for the split-up was a disagreement regarding participation at the ISTC Worlds warm-up. With all the major teams taking part in this race in preparation for the Worlds, Easton wished to do this as well. However, it seems Losi are not sending any drivers at all to the warm-up and Easton was not happy about this. Instead Losi apparently offered to let him out of his contract and Billy took this option and signed for Yokomo instead. It is believed that Billy will continue to run for Trinity and Novak as he's still contracted to them. No official confirmation has been given on this though, and neither any announcement from Yokomo on his deal with them. However, Todd Hodge of Losi has confirmed Billy has left Losi and indeed signed for Yokomo.



"Billy left because of other reasons. He was not happy about a few of our decisions on what races he would be attending. Billy is a great driver and we wish him the best with his new sponsor Yokomo."



After winning the 2003 IFMAR Off-Road Worlds for Associated Billy switched to Duratrax in a surprise move. After only a few months he then moved to Yokomo, only to move to Team Losi for the 2005 season. Whether he'll stay longer at Yokomo this time remains to be seen!
