Ever since the introduction of the added timing, it simply changes the landscape of so-called 'stock' racing; and without lengthy testing of the 'controlled' electronics(motor/speedo), it is inevitable that people will be burning their motors left and right with those added-timing programs.... To average weekend racers(especially from out-of-town), I sincerely do think the controlled speed/motor(or even controlled highest gearing) is the one of the best solutions. All you have to do is simply focus on driving and setting the car, or finding the correct FDR(which is not impossible given a day of testing prior) Modified 5 min, I still believe is still the main stream of the world; all skill, it is never a problem of battery or motor not fast enough. 8-10 min modified race has completed the whole landscape, especially where people start to use all different combination of motor/added-timing programs, and that's where the cost run high. If the purpose of the race is to promote RC racing, so more people can come and enjoy a weekend of excitement, wouldn't we all agree it is probably wise to simplify things so non-daily or non-factory driver has a chance to compete? |
