The Japanese driver powered his way to six wins in the six qualifying rounds with his Yokomo tweaked Associated chassis to take TQ for the main event, with Atsushi Hara (Hara Hammer 12) putting up the best challenge. Other drivers looking fast included Hiderou Kitatzawa with the Xenon Racing XR12 who lined up third, with Mike Blackstock and Mike Lufaso fourth and fifth for Associated. The first A final was a great race of patience for Masami, having made early mistakes Atsushi took his chance to build up an early race lead. This left the pole sitter chasing Atsushi for the majority of the race, latching onto the rear of his car at six minutes. But Masami was only close enough to make his move on the final lap, when he dived down the inside of Hara's car at the end of the straight and bundled his way past. Masami went on to win the leg as Atsushi recovered to take second from Yutaka Takizawa's Xenon car. Masami made up for his errors in leg one by driving a faultless leg two to win the final in dominant fashion, lapping all but the second place finisher. Atsushi had struggled with traffic towards the end of the run and this made Masami's job easier and he cruised to the win, which in turn, gave him the overall victory and the 2004 IFMAR World Championship. Not surprisingly, Masami sat out the third and final leg with his World title in his pocket. After two non-finishes, Hiderou Kitazawa finally managed to finish a leg and it was in first place, beating the eight other racers in a very convincing fashion. Mike Blackstock took up the chase and finished second in the leg which guaranteed him a podium position. Atsushi Hara had a mechanical problem and finished seventh, but two second places ensured him the runners up spot overall.
