Serpent partners up with Picco for new MEGA engines project Back to realistically priced engines Serpent has decided to start a new partnership with Picco for the development, production and distribution of MEGA engines. We plan to introduce the MEGA engine-line in early October 2004 at the Chicago show in the USA. In recent years engine prices have rocketed sky-high and as our surveys show, it is one the main reasons for r/c drivers to race less or to stop r/c racing all together as they can just not afford it anymore. The Serpent-MEGA policy is to offer reasonable and realistically priced engines, with excellent quality and performance, and with the correct supply and service! MEGA engine prices will be priced around 30-50% less (depending on version) than our current NovaRossi based NovaMEGA line of engines. The new MEGA line of engines will include a MEGA 12 (Sports and MS level), MEGA 21 (Sports and MS level) and other engines later on like MEGA 15 Small block and MEGA 26. The MEGA line will also include pipe-sets, glowplugs and of course the right spare parts backup and a selection of race options. Transition to MEGA Michael Salven will be heading the Serpent MEGA team and will use pre-production MEGA engines at the up-coming European Championships for 1/8 scale and 1/10 scale, as well as at the Worlds for 1/10 in Brazil. Other Serpent Team drivers will be offered to use the MEGA engines as well for the upcoming major races, but on a limited basis. Serpent and its distributors will finish the remaining stock of NovaMEGA engines. Spare parts will remain available for some time, but as the NovaMEGA engines are based on the NovaRossi engines, there will be several sources to obtain spare parts from, like MAX, R&B, NovaRossi, Rex and Top. We appologize for any inconveniences that may result from this, but we can not abvoid this. Serpent is looking forward to this new challenge and we hope that racers will appreciate our efforts to try to make r/c racing affordable again, and will try our new MEGA engines. Winning and racing-fun can also be achieved with realistically priced, affordable MEGA high performance racing engines. Full backing of Picco Picco will focus all its efforts on the development and manufacturing of its engines and the new MEGA line in particular. Picco has therefore decided to cease the production and support of its own Picco SPEED 1/8 scale r/c car. It has been sold to a German company who will continue the production and development of the SPEED under his own name. Alberto Picco will start using the Serpent 950R and 710 in domestic racing, and has given up his international ambitions as a driver to be able to fully concentrate on supporting MEGA and Picco drivers at international championships. |
