70+mph High Speed Gearing Installation | Traxxas 4-Tec 2.0 VXL

Today we will show you how to install the high speed gearing in the 4 TEC 2.0.
The optional gears included with the model will allow for a higher top speed.
Tools needed would include 1.5mm and 2mm hex drivers.
Start by removing the 4 screws that attach the gear cover.
Use the 1.5mm hex tool to remove the stock pinion gear from the motor shaft.
Make sure the motor mount plate is in the appropriate position for the chosen gearing combination.
Adjust the motor mount plate screws to the BB configuration.
Install the 35T high speed pinion gear.
Seat the gear on the flat part of the shaft and fully tighten the screw.
Use the 2mm hex driver to remove the screws from the bottom of the rear of the chassis.
Gently pull the rear portion of the vehicle from the center section of the chassis.
Gently lift up on the center drive shaft.
Slide out the center drive shaft and remove it from the chassis.
Slide off the bearing and the spur gear.
Making sure not to lose the retaining pin.
Install the 55T spur gear.
Reinstall the bearing and drive shaft and replace the hardware you removed earlier.
Place the assembled center driveshaft back into the chassis.
Replace the rear portion of the vehicle and the 3 screws we removed earlier.
Reattach the motor and slide it back into place.
You can gently roll the model back and forward to ensure that everything is properly seated
Replace the gear cover and 4 screws.
Now the model is ready to run at top speed.
Follow the same procedures to switch back to the original gearing or try a different gearing combination.
